Glad to see some new posts...but...but...
Rating Series of Unfortunate Events at 2?! I'm in shock. Jim Carey plays a bad actor (what other role could he play?); excellent book to movie translation of many in-jokes; best mainstream child acting since...Ever.
And the end credits are a masterpiece! That's serious animation, baby.
[breathes deeply] I just had to get that off my chest.
okay okay. Perhaps in my ignorance having never read the book I underscored the film. Jim Carey is the perfect actor for the role although I guess where I scored it down was the overacting by all the actors, it left no subtlety but perhaps thats because it is more of a kids film. I felt like the humour is spoon fed and didnt give me a chance to interpret it for myself.
Having said that on second thoughts I would take it up to a 3 ***
You're probably still shocked though huh!
watched V for Vendetta recently, loved it. eye-candy effects, amazing how much character they developed into a mask, then again, maybe he was more than a mask...
